
Hemingway Scott was founded by Simon Scott, who has specialised in recruiting lawyers for major offshore law firms in the Caribbean and Bermuda for the last sixteen years and formerly practised as an employment lawyer in the UK.

Prior to founding Hemingway Scott, Simon ran the offshore desk at a boutique international legal recruitment agency and a major global legal recruitment agency. Simon has personal experience of living and working offshore, having spent four years in the Cayman Islands from 2009 to 2014. Simon is a graduate of Cambridge University, where he read law at Queens' College.
Simon's main focus is on the Cayman, BVI and Bermuda markets, but he also has dealings with the Channel Islands, London, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore offices of the major offshore firms.
Simon represents both solicitors and barristers, from NQ to Partner level, who are are admitted in either the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa or Hong Kong.
Simon is predominantly instructed on roles in the following practice areas: banking & finance; corporate; dispute resolution; investment funds; private wealth; regulatory.
Simon helps candidates navigate the hiring process with the minimum of stress and complication, providing accurate and comprehensive advice on the full range of matters involved in making a move offshore, including admission criteria, remuneration, career progression, lifestyle and relocation, as well as CV and interview preparation and offer negotiation.
Many of the candidates Simon has placed at offshore firms over the last sixteen years are now Partners, including at all of the 'offshore Magic Circle' firms (Appleby, Carey Olsen, Conyers, Harneys, Maples, Mourant, Ogier and Walkers). Several of those Partners are now Head of Department or Managing Partner in their respective jurisdictions.
